Turkish limestone quarries are located in the town of Finike, 115 km from the city center of Antalya. Limestone takes its name from the Limyra region, which is 5 km away from the seaside of Finike. The ancient city of Limyra was founded at the foot of a 1216 m high hill. The most active period of the city of Limyra is the time of the Lycian King Perikle. During this period, the city of Limyra was the capital of Lycia. Limestone is a type of sedimentary rock generally composed of calcite and aragonite minerals.
